JRiver Zones
If you use JRiver, Queue Ball can control individual JRiver zones directly from Alexa. Zone commands are separate from Queue Ball playback modes, so you can use them whether Queue Ball is in Alexa Mode, Echo Mode, or Direct Mode.
You can switch JRiver's active zone, control a specific zone without switching to it, ask what is playing in a zone, adjust its volume, or start supported playback directly in a named zone.
Finding and Switching Zones
Queue Ball can tell you which JRiver zones are available and which zone is currently active.
Switching zones changes JRiver's active zone. If you only want to control another zone, you do not need to switch to it first.
Controlling a Specific Zone
Targeted zone commands act on the zone you name without changing JRiver's active zone.
When targeting a JRiver zone, include the word zone in your request. This helps Queue Ball distinguish a zone name from an artist, album, server, or other playback request.
Zone Volume
You can adjust volume, mute, or unmute a specific JRiver zone without affecting the others.
What's Playing in a Zone
You can ask Queue Ball what is currently playing in any JRiver zone.
Playing an Album in a Specific Zone
You can start an album directly in a named JRiver zone without changing the active zone.
Active Zones and Targeted Commands
There are two different ways to work with JRiver zones. Switching to a zone changes JRiver's active zone. A targeted command controls only the zone you name and leaves the active zone unchanged.
This is also separate from Queue Ball's playback mode. Zone commands can be used while Queue Ball is playing through Alexa or while Direct Mode is selected.
For the complete command list, see Direct Mode & JRiver Zones. For more about playback destinations, see the Direct Mode guide.
